No sewing / blogging for a while

Last saturday evening I fought with gravity....and lost.

In other words, I made a nasty fall which ended with two broken fingers. At first they gave me a plaster-bandage. After that they made an x-ray to see if everything was in the right place. Then they decided to put pins in both fingers, so I had surgery on sunday.
Now I'm at home recovering. There has been no unbearable pain and it's getting better every day, so I guess that's a lucky thing. Let's hope it stays that way.
Another lucky thing is that I injured my right hand, and I'm left-handed, so..

But there will be no sewing for a while as you definitely need both hands for that. I had just started a red linen summerskirt saturday. It makes me so sad to look at it now but maybe I should look upon it as a goal:  one day soon I'm gonna finish you !!

One thing is for sure, I'll never take the functioning of my hands for granted any more.

I hope you are all well and hope to talk to you again soon.

  4. Look after yourself. Make sure not to push it and heal all the way.

As for no sewing - I have a friend whose right hand was amputated. She knits, sews, and creates intricate textile art. When you have to, you learn.

  9. Lilian - I am so sorry about your injury. However, I am sure that you will mend very soon - it's amazing how clever nature is about these things. In the meantime, look after yourself and indulge yourself. My very best wishes to you.

  10. Oww! Sorry to hear about that. Enjoy your time off (think of it as time to reflect and plan out your future sewing!) and you'll be back in action before you know it.
